We believe that one of the best things we can do for a child needing a family, is to get him/her into a disciple making home. Here’s the thing; Private adoption is expensive, but you don’t have to do it alone! We want to help as you take this step in faith to raise up young disciples.
Here are the steps for us to partner with you!
1. Let us know that you are feeling called to adopt.
2. We will partner you with a mentor family that has been through that process and understands the highs and lows that are ahead. They will be with you every step of the way.
3. Complete your home study.
4. Apply to Lifesong for Orphans fundraising platform.
5. Once your application is approved, we will interview you for a matching grant.
a. You may then have a chance to share your journey with the church to invite them to support you directly through Lifesong.
b. We may highlight your story on our website to encourage further support.
FAQ
Why private adoption and not adoption through foster care?
The heart of private adoption is giving a child a family, while foster care’s primary goal is reconciliation with their birth family. Foster care can end up in adoption, but that is not the primary objective.
How do I choose an organization to have my home study through?
The actual organization for the home study does not matter as long as they are properly accredited for the type of adoption you are seeking, however, not all are priced the same. This is a great place to ask some of our mentor families as they have been through the process and likely have found a good but affordable option.
How much does private adoption cost?
A private adoption averages between $40,000 and $80,000. Don’t worry. If this is where Jesus is calling you, then step out boldly. We want to help you as you move forward. You will not be alone.
Why Lifesong for Orphans?
This is a fundraising platform that is absolutely incredible. Their employees fundraise their own salaries which means that Lifesong does not take a percentage of the donations. Also, Lifesong will hold the money raised and will only allow that money to be used toward adoption fees (includes lawyer, travel, housing, agency fees, and more). This provides accountability and ensures that donations will go towards adoption costs.
Why a matching grant?
We want to help you raise the financial support that you need and people are more incentivized to give when they realize that their donation is doubled!
Do you have any post adoption support?
Yes! The adoption process is only the beginning of your journey. You will be supported in many of the same ways that our foster care families are. We will have days where meals can be provided to you and you will have access to resources and trainings.
