Parent Child Dedication

Commit yourself to raise your child(ren) as a Disciple of Jesus Christ.

What is Parent Child Dedication?

An Example in Scripture

Mary and Joseph, the earthly parents to Jesus, took Jesus to the temple to dedicate him.

  • Luke 2:22 "And when the days for their purification according to the Law of Moses were completed, they brought Him up to Jerusalem to present Him to the Lord"

Instructions in Scripture:

Your child(ren) is a blessing gifted to you from the Lord.

  • Psalm 127:3a "Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, The fruit of the womb is a reward..."

Remember to rely on God! He gave this child to you.

  • Psalm 127:1 "Unless the Lord builds a house, They who build it labor in vain; Unless the Lord guards a city, The watchman stays awake in vain."

Discipleship is a lifestyle, NOT a task. Children will learn from what you say and do.

  • Deuteronomy 11:19 "You shall also teach them to your sons, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up."

Is this an infant baptism?

No. We believe that a child must be old enough to understand what it means to put their faith in Jesus Christ before they can be baptized. We follow the scripture in believing that baptism follows a person’s confession and belief that a person recognizes and understands that they are a sinner, eternally separated from God and in need of a savior and that savior is Jesus Christ, who saves them from their sin and eternal separation from God.

Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

How do we celebrate Parent Child Dedication at CyLife?

This event is spread over two days: the Prayer Brunch and the Sunday Dedication.

Join us for the Prayer Brunch, a special gathering for the family to celebrate the meaningful commitment of Parent Child Dedication. At the brunch, you’ll learn about the significance of Parent Child Dedication, discover practical ways to intentionally disciple your child, and participate in a time of prayer for your child’s spiritual growth.

Please note: The Prayer Brunch is for the immediate family of the child being dedicated — parents/guardians and siblings.

The next day, families will have the opportunity to publicly affirm their commitment during our Sunday Dedication at any of our worship services (8:00, 9:30, 11:15, or 12:45). We invite your extended family, friends, and Small Group to join the celebration as the church community supports your commitment.

*This event is designed for families with children from birth to 3 years old.
