My family
I was born in Virginia but moved to Texas when I was 4 with my parents and sister. My husband Allen and I attended the same church and our families were friends. We were married in 1975 and will be celebrating our 50th anniversary this November. We have 3 adult children (Sean, Sarah and Michael, 2 daughters in love Lexie and Samantha and one son in love Billy) along with 5 grandchildren.
My story
I started attending church at 5 with my mom and sister and asked Jesus in my heart at 7 and was baptized at 10. My dad traveled for work so when he was home he might go with us. My mom worked with children as long as I can remember and I helped her as much as I could. We moved to Waller when I was a freshman in high school and started attending a Baptist church there. I was always trying to “earn” God’s love and felt if I went to church, carried my Bible to school, always obeyed the rules and never caused problems I could do that. I met back up with Allen as a sr in high school and after we got married we became youth directors at the church we attended. After being in an extremely legalistic church for 30 years(which only added to my belief that God would only love me if I performed correctly) we left after hearing about God’s Grace. At every church we tried I ended up helping with the kids department. My passion is wanting kids to know who Jesus is and that he loves them so much and wants to be there for them as their best friend. We started at CyLIfe 8 years ago and after a short time I became a volunteer in the kids area.
