POSITION SUMMARY

As the Communications Director at CyLife Church, you will lead and execute the church’s communication strategy, ensuring the vision and mission are clearly and consistently articulated to both internal and external audiences. This includes leveraging effective tools and platforms to reach and engage people. Your leadership will be essential in ensuring the church’s voice remains strong, unified, and aligned with our mission and values. You’ll collaborate closely with church leadership and ministry teams to develop strategies that inform, inspire, and invite people into what God is doing through CyLife.


Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a Christ-centered, ministry-minded communicator with a deep relationship with Jesus, a passion for making disciples, and strong alignment with CyLife’s DNA and core values.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and collaborative leader who excels in written and verbal communication across multiple platforms—including social media, website, text, and email. They hold a degree in communications or have equivalent experience and are proficient with tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Asana, Adobe, Canva, and major social platforms.

This person thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings strong organizational and relational skills, and leads with clarity and creativity. As a self-starter, they’re able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, lead through influence, and work seamlessly with staff, volunteers, and partners to tell the ongoing story of how God is moving through CyLife Church.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

While there will be tasks unique to this role, key responsibilities include:


1. Lead Communication Strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy that articulates the church’s mission and vision.
  • Ensure clear, consistent messaging across all platforms to inspire and engage the church family in disciple-making.

2. Manage All Communication Channels

  • Oversee the church’s website, social media, email, digital signage, and print materials.
  • Ensure all content reflects the church’s voice and communicates the mission with clarity.
  • Adapt to evolving communication needs with agility and care.

3. Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and develop the communications team, helping individuals grow in their gifts and take ownership.
  • Model a “God first, others second, me third” mindset while fostering a collaborative, growth-minded culture.
  • Establish standards for written and visual communication in collaboration with staff and volunteers.

4. Storytelling

  • Collaborate with the Creative Director to identify, capture, and edit compelling stories that reflect our mission and highlight God’s work through CyLife.
  • May include filming and editing video content.
  • Maintain a consistent visual and verbal identity across platforms and events.

5. Event Promotion & Engagement

  • Strategize and manage communication around key events (Easter, Christmas, special services).
  • Promote events with a tone of celebration and clarity, balancing enthusiasm with expectations.
  • Oversee signage needs, including ordering, pickup, and placement.

6. Crisis Communication

  • Partner with ministry leaders to manage sensitive communication during times of crisis with clarity, transparency, and grace.
  • Uphold the church’s values of truth, trust, and compassion in every message.

7. Cross-Ministry Collaboration

  • Work with ministry leaders to ensure all communication aligns with CyLife’s mission and strategic direction.
  • Help build and improve systems, processes, and training materials for effective communication across ministries.
  • Support teams in clearly communicating next steps in the spiritual journey—from newcomer to disciple-maker.

8. Monitor & Evaluate Effectiveness

  • Regularly assess the effectiveness of communication through feedback and engagement metrics.
  • Track key performance indicators (website, social, email) to optimize reach and impact.
  • Stay current on trends and tools to guide continuous improvement.


Key Collaboration: Communications & Creative Director

The relationship between the Communications Director and the Creative Director is essential. While there is natural overlap in messaging, branding, and content production, clarity and partnership are key. The Communications Director is responsible for shaping and executing the church’s communication strategy, ensuring every message aligns with CyLife’s vision, values, and discipleship goals. The Creative Director is responsible for engaging visual and experiential content. When these roles function in harmony, they produce unified and compelling communication that drives deeper engagement and spiritual growth.

We strongly believe in having a lot of fun in what we do. We don’t take ourselves too seriously, and enjoy laughing a lot, especially at ourselves. We strive to use humor responsibly so that we don’t hurt relationships.
